Syrian arrested for stabbing at training centre in Germany

A 26-year-old Syrian man has been arrested and suspected of the stabbing at a fitness centre in Duisburg, where four people were seriously injured.
The arrest took place on the night of Sunday, according to the German public prosecutor’s office. The stabbing happened on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old, believed to have been the target of the attack, is in critical condition. Allegedly, the attack was not initially aimed at the other three who were injured. (NTB)
The police had access to footage from a surveillance camera, which was used to find the suspect.
The arrested person has Syrian citizenship.
According to Die Welt, the police have seized two knives, which may mean that the potential murder weapon has been found – The German newspaper also writes that Duisburg has been considered a “hotspot” for crime in recent years.
