Hotels.com is a website for booking hotel rooms, owned and operated by Hotels.com LP, a limited partnership in Dallas, USA.

The website has a rather special option for customising your stay.

In addition to the usual filtering options for those who are at work or travelling with the family, Hotels.com also has a separate button for “LGBTQ-friendly”.

There you can read the following:

“See accommodations that pledge to make all guests feel safe, welcome and respected.”

We searched for Hotels in Oslo, and Hotels.com found 134 for us to stay at. But when you press the button for LGBTQ-friendly, this number is greatly reduced, but you are still left with 46 hotels to choose from.

Of the many well-known hotels that come up, Radisson and Thon are among those with the most hotels in this “category”.

It is perhaps worth noting that Radisson’s neighbour, Scandic Byporten, which is adjacent to Oslo S, does not have an “offer” for those who perceive themselves as belonging to the LGBTQ group.

Whether that means that the hotel will not treat LGBTQ people in a “safe and respectful way”, or whether it simply means that they do not put pigeon hole people, one can only speculate.
