“Life of Brian” will be staged as a theatre production. Some scenes must be censored, as they may offend today’s pitiful snowflakes.
Now suddenly we can’t do it, because it will offend people, says John Cleese to the Daily Mail.
Life of Brian was also banned in Norway for a period, at the time because the film was considered blasphemous. In Sweden, it was then marketed as “the film that is so funny that it is banned in Norway”. Now it must be censored because it offends the new religion: woke and LGBTQ.
Modern people cannot bear to see Brian being crucified, it may cause trauma for people who have experienced being crucified themselves. As if this is a large group.
Nevertheless, the song “Always look on the bright side of life” will be performed. But without the crucifixion, the whole humorous genius falls away.
Expressen writes:
Another scene that is to be removed in the theatre version is when the character Stan says that he wants to become a woman, be called Loretta and have children. He thus comes out as an LGBTQI person before the concept even existed in the 70s.
But this form of humour does not fit into today’s madhouse.
It is every man’s right to have children if he wants them, says Stan in the film, but is then questioned by his friends.
But you can’t have children, says John Cleese’s character Reg in the famous scene, to which Stan replies “don’t you oppress me” and becomes sad.
When the scene was read out in New York last year, several of the actors reacted, telling Cleese that such a scene cannot be performed today. Therefore, the scene has been censored away.
So here you have something there’s never been a complaint about in 40 years, that I’ve heard of, and now all of a sudden we can’t do it because it’ll offend people. What is one supposed to make of that? But I think there were a lot of things that were actually, in some strange way, predictive of what was actually going to happen later, says Cleese about the scene.
Monty Python predicted the future. Now the future has arrived. Document therefore shows the two clips. Then the woke people can be offended as much as they want.
