It has been a busy day for the police in Stockholm. Within minutes, three men were shot in the Swedish capital on Friday evening. In Solna, which forms part of Greater Stockholm, two men in their 20s were found with gunshot wounds. The first man was found in a playground, with the second man found a short time later in a residential area not far away.
The injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The police have not yet confirmed whether any of the people are known to them previously. No suspects have been arrested so far.
Solna has been affected by a number of serious acts of violence recently. The police are now investigating whether these can be linked to Friday’s shooting incidents. It is reasonable to believe that there may be a connection, says spokesperson Ola Österling from the Stockholm police to SVT.
In the suburb of Jordbro, south of Stockholm, a man was also shot on Friday evening. A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. Overnight, an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He is said to be known to the police; they currently do not suspect any direct connection between the shootings in Solna and Jordbro.
On Thursday afternoon, a young man was stabbed and killed near Älvsjö station in Stockholm, one person has been arrested for the murder. Both the deceased and the arrested are 15 years old. There is still no information about the motive for this crime, says Daniel Wikdahl, press officer at the Stockholm police.
