The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has spent more than $600 million on illegal migrants in fiscal year 2024.

Now, according to Interior Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, the agency doesn’t have enough funds left to make it through the rest of the hurricane season.

“The agency is being stretched as it works with states to assess the damage from Hurricane Helene and delivers meals, water, generators and other critical supplies,” the Associated Press reported.

Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida last Thursday, then ploughed through Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Virginia, where it flooded towns and killed more than 160 people, American Greatness wrote yesterday.

But the death toll is rising, having just passed 200 dead.

The fatalities are spread across six different states, including South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and Virginia, as well as the aforementioned Georgia and North Carolina.

Over 150,000 households have requested assistance from FEMA, and the number is rising. More hurricanes are also expected, which will lead to more damage and more deaths of US citizens.

“Communities were wiped off the map,” said North Carolina’s governor, Roy Cooper, at a press conference on Tuesday.

But Secretary of the Interior Alejandro Mayorka has to admit that FEMA lacks funds.

“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money we have. We expect another hurricane to strike,” Mayorkas said.

“FEMA doesn’t have enough funds to make it through the season.”

One of the “immediate needs” FEMA has spent more than $600 million on is assistance for the countless illegal migrants pouring across the open southern border.

In addition, the United States has spent more than $174 billion in US taxpayer money to help Ukraine.

Mayorkas’ comments came as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris finally travelled to the southeast coast to be photographed by the press amidst the storm’s devastation.

“These teams have been in the area since Sunday, BUT have not been authorised to rescue anyone,” Morello reported on X Wednesday.

The rescue teams claim they need authorisation through Title 10, which in the United States Code covers the roles, missions and organisation of the United States Armed Forces, and forms the legal basis for the Department of Defense.

But for some reason, no such authorisation is forthcoming, according to Morello.

While the bureaucracy dawdles, the danger of more Americans dying increases.
