Conservative media across the West consider Trump’s victory a watershed moment for woke.

Maybe there can be an end to forced discussions about whether women can have penises or whether education should be determined by skin colour or sexual preference. Maybe the miracle happens and we start learning about Western civilisation in a neutral way again?

For years we’ve been sterilising confused children and cutting away perfectly healthy body parts from their bodies. Now we’re seeing more and more red states banning transgender care for minors, and these laws stand a good chance of holding up in the US Supreme Court.

This is what Lionel Shriver writes in Spiked. She has been a vocal opponent of woke for a number of years.

There are some positive trends, which have probably been given a kick up the backside by Trump’s victory.

Preferred pronouns are quietly disappearing from emails and presentations. Universities are sacking their DEI staff. Diversity, equity and inclusion are going out of fashion.

Walmart has done the same, and investors are suing Target for prioritising DEI, ESG (environmental, social and governance) and Pride over profit. At the same time, tech billionaires from Silicon Valley are moving towards the Trump camp in a frenzy, without any reason to believe that they are motivated by anything other than increased profits. But it will have a positive effect anyway.

New universities are emerging that focus on classical liberal education, not on anti-Israel demonstrations and white privilege. Young people have had enough of the nonsense, they ridicule the LGBTQ hysteria and disgusting anti-racism, and many young Norwegians, especially young boys, say they would have voted for Trump if they were Americans.

But victory is certainly not assured. Too many people have put their entire prestige into this madness. Many are working to promote diversity at every opportunity. Some have been working for years to decolonise universities. Politicians across the West have swallowed the woke raw, and politicians aren’t exactly known for admitting their mistakes.

Media such as The Guardian, virtually all Norwegian media and American MSNBC have gone all in on the woke craze, and now the number of readers and viewers is falling. Some of these media will probably change course when revenues fall, but not all.

Universities along the US coast are continuing to play the same game, and others aren’t giving up either, as Oxford University and others recently showed. So it’s going to be a long fight.

We adversaries have some advantages. Because the woke mafia didn’t invent their theories themselves. They copy like pure conformists, displaying their “greatness” in pure jargon. And they care about social fashion. There is an opportunity here.

Firstly: Woke people are not concerned with social justice. They’re obviously not concerned with anything other than gaining acceptance in the right circles. So if you hear people using silly words like  “cis-gendered”, we should show our contempt, even in private gatherings.

Mild contempt, like a sigh, or rolling your eyes. Or maybe a short comment: Why do you use such nonsense words?

Because the last thing people like that want is to feel ostracised and overlooked.

For years, people like this have believed that being woke makes them modern and cool. We need to reverse this sense of superiority.

Whatever the more complex truth of the matter, it’s in our interest to promote the idea that woke is over. That the woke has been overcome. That woke is completely out of date, hopelessly obsolete and worn out.

We need to ridicule people who celebrate the completely idiotic. We need to criticise the schizophrenic reactions that we have seen in abundance after the terrorist attack in Magdeburg and after previous terrorist attacks. After the terror in Manchester, an entire stadium sang Don’t Look Back in Anger before the bodies were buried.

We must continue to say that the only sensible response to terrorist attacks is rage and despair and care for the victims and their families, not a focus on Islamophobia and how sorry the killers are. Then we need to stop the insane mass immigration of people from parts of the world that hate us and bring very little positive that improves our security, economy and culture.

(This will happen i the US with Trump. For Europe, there seems to be absolutely no hope.)

We just have to convince them that woke is unhip. It’s been that way all along, but some are clearly a little slower on the uptake than others.
