British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will water down his net zero plans in the wake of Donald Trump’s global trade war.
The Prime Minister is giving an important speech today. Among other things, he will announce that elite British car manufacturers, including Aston Martin and McLaren, will no longer have to stop selling petrol and diesel cars by 2030, writes The Telegraph.
Starmer realises that the UK simply can’t afford to continue with the Green New Deal on a full scale.
This comes after the FTSE 100 index fell by as much as 6.3 per cent to its lowest level in a year earlier today, in the wake of the tariffs announced by Trump last week. However, the British are getting off fairly lightly on the Trump tariffs.
Starmer warned that «global trade is about to be transformed» by Trump’s policies and that he will go «further and faster» to reshape the UK economy.
The speech is the first in a series of «pro-growth moments» planned for this week which, according to Downing Street sources, will argue in favour of an «activist state».
But the Labour government has made a series of speeches promising improvement, with Britons experiencing nothing but higher taxes, recession and mass immigration.
Last Monday, representatives from 40 countries met in London to put a stop to illegal immigration and human traffickers.
– This evil trade exploits cracks between our institutions, it pits countries against each other, and it capitalises on our inability to come together at a political level, said Starmer in his opening speech.
So the question is whether the British will see any changes, both in the economy and in the invasion of boat migrants. The Labour government has given a series of speeches promising improvement, but the British people have experienced nothing but higher taxes, recession and increased mass immigration.
Trust in Starmer and the Labour government is therefore at an all-time low.
