The UK Supreme Court judgement was a moment three women had spent seven years fighting tirelessly for.
When Lord Hodge told the Supreme Court that the judges had unanimously ruled that «sex» refers to «biological sex», two of the activists who had brought the case broke down in tears, writes The Telegraph.
For seven years, Marion Calder, Susan Smith and Trina Budge of the campaign group For Women Scotland have fought to have the reality of gender recognised. On Wednesday, the judgement came as a well-deserved reward for years of hard work against the madness.
When the verdict finally came, 55-year-old Calder from Edinburgh told The Telegraph that it was overwhelming.
– That’s when Susan and I started crying, she says.
– I thought: «They’ve actually said that!» That’s what we’ve been saying all along. Now, the country’s highest court – five Supreme Court justices – were unanimous in their decision. It feels like the adults are back in the room.
Several women celebrated after the judgement was announced. In a post on the social media site X, J.K. Rowling gave the trio credit for the Supreme Court victory. Rowling has financially supported the FWS group.
It took three extraordinary, tenacious Scottish women with an army behind them to get this case heard by the Supreme Court and, in winning, they’ve protected the rights of women and girls across the UK. @ForWomenScot, I’m so proud to know you 🏴💜🏴💚🏴🤍🏴 https://t.co/JEvcScVVGS

Calder, however, denied that the trio were «extraordinary» as they were just «ordinary women.»
Rowling has been a strong supporter of FWS, donating £70,000 to a crowd-funding programme so they could take this case to court. Rowling later posted a photo celebrating the judgement with a cigar and a drink.

– We are so grateful for her support over the years. She has done the most to advance women’s rights around the world, says Calder.

The fight is not over
The efforts of the three «ordinary women» are extraordinary by any measure, but the fight is far from over. Baroness Falkner, chair of the UK’s Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), now believes that we need to ensure that there are three types of toilets, for women, men and gender neutral.
She said there was no law prohibiting trans people from using a «neutral third space» and that trans organisations «should use their power advocates to ask for such third spaces».
Who will be responsible for the astronomical costs is unclear. The only thing we can say with certainty is that LGBTQ ideologues are unlikely to foot the bill themselves.
Health Minister Karin Smyth was unable to answer which changing room a trans woman should use when asked by Times Radio after yesterday’s judgement.
CM: “If a trans woman used a female changing room yesterday, what changing room should they use today?”
KS: “Female changing rooms should be used by women.»

Calder says that one of the worst things was experiencing how women’s organisations failed in the fight for women’s rights.
– We really thought that the biggest women’s organisations in Scotland would rally around this. But they didn’t. So that’s why we formed the FWS, to take the lead and fight back.
– I didn’t realise how difficult it was going to be. If you had told me what I know now, I probably would have fled.
We are experiencing the same thing here in Norway, where it is almost only radical women’s organisations such as the women’s group Ottar that have supported this struggle. Even Women’s Day on 8 March has become part of the never-ending celebration of gender confused people.
Much of the sporting world failed completely and allowed men into women’s sport. These cowards should be ashamed of themselves today, writes Oliver Brown in a commentary in the same newspaper. He believes that the sport’s governing bodies must act and accept that gender is defined by biology.
The situation in Norway is at least as bad, probably worse. When football clubs invite seven-year-old players to a Pride festival, that says it all.
While the three heroes of FWS deserve tribute today, there are plenty of celebrities who should be despised for the rest of their lives, at least until they apologise. These include Harry Potter stars Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, who distanced themselves from Rowling, who had made them rich and famous.
The Guardian’s awful woke writer Owen Jones, who told the Rotherham gang rape victims to «shut up for the sake of diversity», has, of course, been at the forefront of the battle against the LGBTQ mafia.
Keir Starmer has wavered from one to the other. Jameela Jamil suggested that the debate about transgender women in sport was being used to «distract” from the curtailment of abortion rights.
Fiona Parker has gone to the trouble of making a whole list of these despicable paragons of virtue. They will not be forgotten. The rest of us can only rejoice that the woke hysteria has taken one step closer to a well-deserved grave.
Two other women who played a central role in the campaign were also in court on Wednesday. Maya Forstater, chief executive of Sex Matters, a human rights charity that intervened in the case, was celebrating outside.
She was celebrating with Helen Joyce, the organisation’s director of advocacy.
Here in Norway, we have profiles like Tonje Gjevjon and Christina Ellingsen who surely also celebrated the judgement.
All of these strong women deserve to be honoured today.
