Wesam Khazem was one of twenty gunmen shot dead during a major IDF operation in the West Bank, writes The Times of Israel.

Hamas commander

Khazem moved from Telemark to the West Bank. There he became a commander in Hamas. On Friday, he was martyred in battle against Israeli soldiers.

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) reports that Wesam Khazem, the military leader of Hamas in the city of Jenin, was killed in fighting with Israeli soldiers on Friday morning. Two other armed terrorists were also killed in the fighting, writes MIFF.

Very ordinary person

According to VG, the murdered Hamas leader is a Norwegian citizen. He grew up in the Skien area of Telemark, but moved to the West Bank a few years ago.

VG has interviewed his family, who claim that their son was not a terrorist, but “an ordinary person”:

IDF and Hamas are wrong

– My son was not a terrorist. He was an ordinary person working in a construction company. He tried to bring his wife to Norway, but was rejected three times. That’s why he moved back to the West Bank,” the father, who lives in Skien, told VG.

The father believes the IDF and Hamas are wrong when they claim that his son was a leader of Hamas in Jenin:

– It’s not true, it’s all wrong.

In 2010, young Wesam sold strawberries on the square in Porsgrunn.
