A young man in Oslo, with no family in Norway, has allegedly raped an underage boy. He has also confessed to several so-called Vipps robberies (mobile payment in Norway) against young Norwegian victims earlier this year.
A young man, who is said to be 16 years old, escaped from custody for several robberies in Oslo earlier this year. He then allegedly sexually assaulted an underage boy. This is reported by NRK.
“I can confirm that the 16-year-old is under investigation for an assault on an underage boy,” says police attorney Hilde Hermanrud Strand.
Earlier in 2024, many children as young as 12 were subjected to so-called Vipps robberies via mobile phone in Oslo. A 16-year-old was quickly arrested, suspected of several of the robberies.
He was in custody for four weeks, but at the beginning of July he was released. The police believed that custody was no longer absolutely necessary.
The boy ended up in a child welfare institution, where he also lived when the robberies were committed. The teenager is under the care of child welfare because he has no family in Norway.
But in September he was arrested again, charged with raping an underage boy on August 31st. The charge was later expanded to include sexual intercourse with children between the ages of 14 and 16.
Attorney Cecilia Dinardi is the young man’s defense attorney. She says he does not admit criminal guilt in the case.
The Oslo police now state that a good part of the investigation into the rape case has been completed.
“But we are still waiting for some analyses, and we will also question the 16-year-old again,” investigation leader Hilde Hermanrud Strand told NRK.
In the meantime, a verdict is expected against the 16-year-old for, among other things, the robberies, to which he has largely confessed.
