Bildzeitung has unearthed that the company responsible for security at the Christmas market in Magdeburg was called Mekka Security. No doubt the people who run it belong to a different religion to the one celebrating the Christmas market. But in the new Germany, it is incorrect to ask questions. It’s no wonder German politicians looked suggestive during the memorial service in the church. They know there will be a backlash at the elections on 23 February.

That’s how long it took for a significant piece of the puzzle to fall into place. The security provided by this company was highly questionable. They had hardly put any people on the job and there was a large gap between two concrete pillars.

Depending on the day of the week and the time of the week, different numbers of employees were deployed. From Sunday to Thursday, only two security guards were hired from 14.00 to 17.00, and from 17.00 to 21.30, four security guards were hired. At the time of the attack, a Friday at 19.00, six Mekka Security employees were on the schedule. These six employees were supposed to secure the entire Christmas market with thousands of visitors, and they were also responsible for guarding the escape routes.

Mekka Security was both sparsely staffed and had a security hole the size of a barn door, six metres wide, for the convenience of emergency services. The door was left open for the terrorist’s BMW.

A six metre wide opening was left between two concrete barriers to allow emergency services access to the area. According to the security concept, this opening should only have been four metres wide, and it should have been closed with a steel chain and then opened when rescuers needed to enter the area.

Security guards were also responsible for opening and closing the escape route. It is unclear how they could both monitor and ensure the safety of the Christmas market with the limited number of employees. It is also questionable whether it was planned at all to place a steel chain on the concrete blocks to protect against attacks. Because in order to place this steel chain between the concrete bollards, the concrete bollards would have needed fixing hooks. And these were not available.

In the comments section, people are asking whether Mecca Security is a joke or serious. They say the politicians have so far relied more on things going well than on security. Now they seem to be running out of luck.</p

What if the voters penalise the politicians and choose AfD? Should the established parties still continue with the boycott line? That would be the same as boycotting the voters’ judgement. Some voters will perceive it as politicians siding with the terrorists. It is enough to read the comments section to see this mood.
