The British Prime Minister said there is “no military solution” to the crisis in the Middle East as he addressed Parliament on the anniversary of the 7 October attacks.
“To put it plainly, the region cannot tolerate another year of this,” Keir Starmer said during his speech to UK Parliament today.
Starmer also urged “all parties” to “take a step back and find the courage to show restraint”, according to The Telegraph.
In practice, this means that he is urging Israel not to retaliate against attacks from all sides, which now also include its main enemy Iran.
The Israeli government has always made it clear that it will not give up the fight until Hamas is crushed and all the hostages are back in Israel. Now the Israel Defence Forces are also in Lebanon, fighting Hezbollah, which began its attacks on Israel on 8 October last year, the day after the terrorist attack.
Missiles continue to be launched from Yemen as well, and boat traffic in the Red Sea is paralysed by attacks on civilian ships by Houthi terrorists.
“We stand with all the innocent victims in Israel, Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and elsewhere,” Sir Keir continued.”
Starmer seems to ignore that the war was actually started by Palestinian terrorists. This must make him popular with the EU, which he is constantly sucking up to.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has urged his allies to support the conflict with Iran or they risk strengthening the “axis of evil”.
Robert Jenrick, Conservative MP and leadership candidate, has asked Keir Starmer if he would support revoking the visas of Hezbollah supporters in the UK. Jenrick said:
“We must root out those who despise our country and our values. What will the Prime Minister do to revoke the visas of those who behave in this way in the UK?”
He also called on the government to ban the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Sir Keir replied:
“We pride ourselves on the democratic right to protest in this country, but supporting a banned terrorist group is unacceptable and we need to be very clear about that, and give the police our full support in taking whatever action they need to take, wherever they are in the UK.”
Many believe that the UK authorities are not following up on what Starmer says here. For many years, overt Islamist terror supporters have been allowed to reside on British soil, even while the Conservative Party ruled the country for 14 years.
Starmer also said that Israel must allow more aid into Gaza, which he described earlier in his statement as a “living nightmare”. In other words, he’s demanding that Israel increase aid to those trying to achieve its stated goal of eradicating Israel.
“Israel must act now so that we can provide humanitarian aid ahead of the winter”
Labour’s Prime Minister also repeated the customary call for a two-state solution and an immediate ceasefire.
