On Thursday evening, EU heads of state will meet in Brussels to discuss a huge bailout package for Ukraine.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyj is also attending the meeting.

The backdrop is that the US has formally paused all aid to Ukraine. They will not share intelligence and have resumed dialogue with Russia, writes Aftenposten. It is fair to say that peace negotiations without any form of dialogue are quite difficult to achieve.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen uses big words.

– The future of a free and independent Ukraine and a safe and prosperous Europe is at stake.

A safe and prosperous Europe? Von der Leyen is living in a fantasy world. The EU is certainly not safe, politicians led by Angela Merkel have made sure of that by letting in millions of people who hate us.

Merkel was also one of the leaders who ensured that Europe is no longer prosperous. Her headless Energiewende motivated the whole of Western Europe to raze its own economy, with the EU eagerly leading the way.

Germany, once Europe’s industrial powerhouse, risks experiencing its third consecutive year of recession.

Making an enemy of the US under Trump

At the same time, European politicians think they can berate and ridicule US President Donald Trump without stopping and without consequences. Then they are shocked when Trump announces that it is time for Europe to fund its own defence.

Of course, the politicians have the full support of most European media, who are just as eager for all-out war against Russia and the fantasy of «the green shift» as Western Europe’s political class. The hatred of Trump is visible in every comment, and even characterises the news stories.

All of this is spiced up with woke, where you’re supposed to love Islam, LGBTQ and all nationalities and ethnicities other than the European indigenous population.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hopes the plan will contribute to €800 billion in increased defence investment over the next few years.

Von der Leyen has also spoken in favour of upgrading Ukraine. The country is to become a «steel porcupine». «Will Ukraine become a kind of Israel in Europe?» asked a journalist at a press briefing before the summit. Israel has a defence system that shoots down rockets and missiles before they hit Israel.

That’s why there’s an important EU meeting today, but it’s unlikely the EU will reach an agreement. There are two heads of state who are unlikely to support this plan.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán writes in a letter to the EU that there are major differences within the union and that it will be impossible to reach a common agreement on Ukraine.

Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico says he will refuse to agree to more financial and military support for Ukraine. Fico also believes that EU countries must demand that Ukraine once again allows Russia to pipe gas via Ukraine to Slovakia and other European countries.

The EU has treated Orbán and Hungary as a pariah caste for years. Hungary considers itself a Christian country and doesn’t want to import large numbers of Muslims. Nor are they interested in teaching children in kindergartens and schools that they can choose to change their gender in a matter of seconds.

For the Islamophiles and LGBTQ-loving woke enthusiasts in Brussels, this is intolerable. But now it’s payback time from Budapest, with Slovakia behind them.

Hungary and Slovakia both lived under the tyranny of the Soviet Union for a long time. They recognise the USSR in what is now being resurrected as the EUSSR.

In Budapest, Jews walk freely in full dress on the streets, experiencing a real sense of security that cannot be found in Berlin, Stockholm or Oslo. You meet bartenders in kippas, when was the last time you saw something like that in the capitals of Western Europe?

Young good-looking women – wearing nothing but shorts and a singlet – cycle home from work alone at midnight on weekends and don’t understand what I mean when I ask if they’re not afraid. In Oslo, adult women are afraid to take a taxi or walk alone to the train station.

Admittedly, Hungary and the other Central European countries are lagging behind economically. But the way things are going, it’s only a matter of time.

As early as 2023, more people moved from Norway to Poland than in the opposite direction.

The United States under Biden/Obama was heading for the abyss, but Americans still had Donald Trump as a possible saviour. Who will save the EU? Brussels’ leadership is not elected, they are appointed. This destroys the possibility of a European Trump figure.

Western Europe is digging its own grave, turning its closest ally into an enemy. Without the Americans stepping up, Europe has no defence against Russia.

But the main problem for Western Europe in particular is its internal enemies, just as JD Vance pointed out. It is Islam, woke and climate hysteria that will kill us. The lack of real freedom of expression exacerbates the situation.

It’s not too late to turn back. But it’s impossible to see any sign that the turning point is being considered at all.

Sometimes it is with a sense of relief that I enjoy my morning coffee in Budapest.
