Today, Transport Minister Pete Buttigieg issued new flight restrictions in airspace “in the vicinity of or around the rescue and reconstruction efforts following Hurricane Helene”.
Buttigieg disapproves of the fact that private individuals have taken matters into their own hands to assist in the relief effort.
According to The Blaze, Buttigieg attempted to justify his order by saying that “there are some safety issues that come up” when private drones and private aircraft are used to assist in rescue missions.
– For example, temporary flight restrictions to ensure airspace is clear of flights or drone activity that may be involved in helping emergency services do their job.
Private operations, however, have become necessary due to the weak, and at times non-existent, response to the disaster by the federal government, writes Eric Landrum in American Greatness.
Residents of states affected by the storm, including Georgia and North Carolina, are unhappy with the lack of response from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which is running out of money after spending more than $600 million on illegal migrants.
FEMA spent large sums on illegal migrants, lacks funds to help hurricane victims
Interior Minister Alejandro Mayorkas, who heads FEMA, recently had to admit that “we don’t have the means” to initiate relief or evacuation measures.
Not even the Red Cross or other organisations or agencies that are meant to help have impressed. Civilians have therefore resorted to using private helicopters and drones to locate or evacuate stranded residents. But this will not be accepted by the Biden regime.
The revelation has led to widespread criticism, including from governors in the affected states. At the same time, rescue teams are ready, but in many cases lack the necessary authorisation to help the victims.
So far, over 225 dead have been found, but there are still hundreds of people missing, so the death toll is expected to rise significantly.
